After completing his mechanical engineering studies at the Engineering School for Mechanical Engineering in Leipzig, Mr. Köhler completed postgraduate studies in intellectual property law at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
His professional career began with engineering activities in traditional mechanical engineering and communications electronics. He then worked in intellectual property rights in the construction industry and later took over as head of the intellectual property rights office at the Academy of Civil Engineering.


Authorised representative before the European Patent Office and the EUIPO
Mr. Köhler has been admitted to the German Patent Attorney Association since 1993 and has extensive professional experience in drafting, acquiring, and defending national and international patents, utility models, trademarks, and designs. From 1998 to 2003, he served as chairman of the Saxon Patent Attorney Association.
He joined the law firm WEIDNER STERN JESCHKE as a partner on October 1, 2022. Mr. Köhler is a registered attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA).
