Dr. Winkler studied chemistry and mathematics at the Technical University of Braunschweig and the ETH Zurich.
His particular interests lie in the field of raw materials and petrochemicals, particularly catalyst and process technology. He has also worked extensively in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and food technology.
Authorised representative before the European Patent Office and the EUIPO
A focus of his work is the development and management of intellectual property portfolios (patents, utility models, designs) as well as the development and implementation of national and global protection strategies for his clients, whom he also advises in legal disputes.
He also advises on technology transfer issues (including the drafting and negotiation of relevant contracts) and on employee invention law. Before joining the law firm WEIDNER STERN JESCHKE as a partner in July 2018, Dr. Winkler worked for more than 25 years as a partner in one of Germany's largest patent law firms before leaving in 2013 to establish his own firm, Winkler IP.
Dr. Winkler was also Chairman of the Chemical Committee from 2002 to 2009 and Co-Chair of the Consumer Products Committee of LESI from 2011 to 2014.
